Private Loves, Public Moon

You are in the opening years of a sixteen-year Jupiter period in the Vedic clock, which began on 17 February 2021 and runs to 17 February 2037. Within it, a Mercury sub-period began on 19 October 2025 and turns on 25 January 2028. Two other systems started their own long chapters close to that Jupiter date: your Chinese ten-year luck pillar changed on 18 April 2021, and on 29 May 2024 your progressed Sun left thirty years in Western Aries for Western Taurus, a stretch of consolidation that lasts until 2055. They agree that this period is for making something durable out of what you already know, and that the work goes slower and quieter than it looks from outside. At the center of your design is one pull: Venus, which rules your life in both zodiacs, sits in the house of what stays private, while your Moon, the part of you that needs and feels, stands almost exactly at the top of the Western chart, where everything is seen.

The pattern at your center

Lens: Western angles and T-square, Vedic Lagna lord and Moon, BaZi elements, numerology. Pertains to: the pull between your private life and your public one, and the planets that carry it.

The two zodiacs disagree about almost every sign in your chart. They agree on this. Your Ascendant is Taurus in both, so Venus rules your life in both. In the Western chart Venus sits at 9°07' Taurus in the 12th house. In the Vedic chart it sits at 15°25' sidereal Aries in the 12th bhava, the house of expenditure, sleep, foreign places and release. The sign changes and the house does not. Jupiter, the lord of your current period, is in the 12th in both zodiacs too. Your Life Path 7 says the same thing in numbers: study, introspection, time alone. Four statements from three systems point to the same place. What you value most is tended out of view.

The Moon pulls the other way. Your Western Moon at 6°27' Aquarius is within 1.4° of the Midheaven, the point of vocation and reputation. It is also the apex of a T-square: Venus in the 12th opposes Pluto in the 6th house of daily work and obligation, and both square the Moon. The tension between what you privately love and what your work demands of you, day after day, gets resolved through the Moon at the top of the chart, through your public role and how you feel inside it. The Vedic chart puts that same Moon in sidereal Capricorn, in the 9th bhava, in Shravana, the nakshatra of the ear: listening, learning, passing knowledge on. Western Aquarius and sidereal Capricorn are both ruled by Saturn, so in both zodiacs your feelings report to duty.

The element counts agree across systems that share no mathematics. Earth carries 56% of the Western chart, and BaZi, the Chinese Four Pillars, makes you Wu, Yang Earth, with Earth at 38% as the strongest element. Both find you steady and slow to move. Both find Water scarce: lowest in the Western count, 5% in BaZi. The meanings differ. Western Water is feeling; for an Earth Day Master, BaZi Water is wealth, what you gather and keep. Neither flows on its own. BaZi also gives Wood at 35%, the element of rules and authority pressing on Earth, and Metal at 4%, the element of output. The Western Capricorn stellium of Mars, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune says the same about pressure.

Three threads carry this through your life, and each comes back in every later section.

The Moon. It rules Shravana, so it set your Vedic clock at birth and ran your first period. It is the apex of the T-square, it sits on the Western Midheaven, and it is lord of your current year. In a real week, the Moon is the meeting where you end up carrying the room's mood along with the agenda.

Venus. It is the Western chart ruler and the Vedic Lagna lord, and it sits in the T-square. In a real week, Venus is the hours you give to something nobody asked for and that you mention to no one.

Saturn. For a Taurus Lagna it rules the 9th and 10th bhavas, which makes it the planet that rewards patience in Vedic terms. It sits in the 8th house in both zodiacs, it rules the next Vedic period from 2037, and it is active in three ways now. In a real week, Saturn is the deadline you keep when nobody is checking.

This pattern costs you credit. The work you care about most is done where it goes unseen, and your feelings get displayed in roles you did not pick for them. In return, depth built in private carries real weight once it reaches the Midheaven, and others cannot fake that weight.

How your life has played

Lens: Vimshottari dashas, secondary progressions, Saturn and Jupiter cycles, BaZi luck pillars. Pertains to: the chapters of your life so far and what each one asked of you.

You have not given me any dates from your own life yet, so each chapter below is the charts' reading of the period. I have phrased each one so you can check it against what you remember.

1988–1996: The Moon years

Lens: Vedic Moon period, progressed Sun, first BaZi luck pillar. Pertains to: childhood and what felt safe.

The Moon period in the Vedic clock, called a mahadasha, ran from before your birth until 18 February 1996. It was ruled by the planet that sits on your Western Midheaven, so the first thing your life asked was attunement: reading what the people around you needed. On 19 April 1991 your first BaZi luck pillar began, Jia Yin, Yang Wood. Wood presses on Earth, so rules and expectations arrived early. On 12 December 1993 your progressed Sun moved from Western Pisces into Western Aries and began a thirty-year chapter of initiative. If you remember being the child who read the room before deciding what to say, this is the structure behind it.

This period set the habit of taking your cues from outside, and the next period turned that habit into effort.

1996–2003: Mars and the first test

Lens: Vedic Mars period, atmakaraka, first Saturn square. Pertains to: competence, effort and what you were measured against.

Mars took over the Vedic clock on 18 February 1996 and ran until 18 February 2003. In Jaimini astrology Mars is your atmakaraka, the planet that carries the soul's chief lesson: courage, skill, siblings, the use of force. Your first Saturn square fell on 23 April 1996, 24 October 1996 and 11 January 1997, and your first Jupiter return came between July 1999 and February 2000. Mars in the Western Capricorn stellium is drive that works through structure. These years most likely asked you to earn your standing by being good at something specific, possibly measured against a sibling or a peer.

The period left you with self-respect tied to effort, and the next one turned that effort toward position.

2003–2011: Rahu's appetite

Lens: Vedic Rahu period, Saturn opposition, BaZi Water arriving. Pertains to: ambition and wanting a place in the world.

Rahu ran the Vedic clock from 18 February 2003 for eighteen years. Rahu is the lunar node of appetite. In your Vedic chart it sits in the 10th bhava of career and status, at 29°34' sidereal Aquarius, the same sign as Mercury. Your BaZi luck pillar had already changed on 18 April 2001 to Gui Chou, where Water, your scarce element, appeared for the first time.

On 18 February 2003 the Vedic clock changed to Rahu. On 16 May 2003 the progressed Moon moved into Western Virgo, and on 18 June 2003 Saturn opposed its birth position.

Your first nodal return on 25 October 2006 fell inside Rahu's own period. A second Saturn square ran from November 2009 to August 2010. If your late teens and early twenties brought a hunger to be recognized for your work, more than for who you were at home, that is Rahu in the 10th.

The period built an ambition for a public role, and the next decade tested which parts of that ambition were really yours.

2011–2021: Water, return and the Saturn test

Lens: BaZi Ren Zi pillar, progressed Moon return, Saturn return. Pertains to: what you committed to and what you let go of.

On 19 April 2011 the luck pillar changed to Ren Zi, Yang Water over a Water branch, the heaviest dose of your scarce element so far: resources, money, what you could collect. Your Uranus square and a Jupiter return both fell across 2011. On 20 January 2015 your progressed Moon returned to Western Aquarius, the sign of your birth Moon, which completes one full emotional cycle. The Saturn return was exact on 5 January 2018. Transiting Saturn passed back over your birth Saturn at 1°56' Western Capricorn, in the 8th house of shared resources, debts and what you merge with other people. If something between 2017 and 2019 made a commitment from your twenties permanent, or ended it, this is the clock that marked it.

As Rahu's long period closed in February 2021, what remained was the work you had kept.

2021–2025: Jupiter opens

Lens: Vedic Jupiter period, Gajakesari yoga, progressed Sun into Taurus. Pertains to: teachers, study and slow growth.

The Jupiter period began on 17 February 2021. The progressed Moon entered Western Taurus on 11 April 2021. The BaZi luck pillar changed to Xin Hai on 18 April 2021.

Jupiter stands in a kendra, an angular house, from your Vedic Moon. That forms the Gajakesari yoga, wisdom guarding the mind, so this period brings the yoga to life. Jupiter's first sub-period ran to 7 April 2023, and the Jupiter return followed on 22 May 2023. Saturn's sub-period then ran from 7 April 2023 to 19 October 2025. On 29 May 2024 the progressed Sun entered Western Taurus and closed thirty years of Aries. If 2023 to 2025 asked you to carry work with a long payoff and little visible reward, that was Saturn's sub-period inside Jupiter's period. Your nodal return on 5 June 2025 was the second of your life.

On 17 September 2025 the progressed Sun reached your natal Jupiter. On 18 September 2025 the progressed Moon entered Western Cancer. On 19 October 2025 the Mercury sub-period began.

Those six weeks in the autumn of 2025 opened the period you are living now.

What is playing now

Lens: Mercury sub-period, profected year, progressions, transits, BaZi Xin Hai, personal year. Pertains to: what this period supports and what it costs.

Mercury runs the sub-period until 25 January 2028. Mercury sits at the top of the chart in both zodiacs: 27°45' Western Aquarius in the 10th house, and 4°04' sidereal Aquarius in the 10th bhava. Your Birthday number 5 is the number traditionally paired with Mercury. Three systems agree that speech, writing, trade and teaching belong in your public role for these two years.

Profections assign each year of life to one house of the chart. Age 38 belongs to the 3rd house, Western Cancer: communication, learning, siblings, your local world. The Moon is lord of the year until your birthday on 14 March 2027.

Your progressed Moon is also in Western Cancer, in the 2nd house of money and self-worth. The year and the progressed Moon fall in the same sign. Both are ruled by the Moon, which also rules your nakshatra.

The progressed Moon is 0.57° from opposing your natal Mars. Your need for security at home and around money now sits directly across from your drive and your temper, and Mars is the planet of the soul's lesson. Expect irritation to come up wherever home and ambition compete for the same hours. The progressed Sun and Moon are also in their crescent phase, which means building something new against the pull of what came before.

The Saturn thread is active in three places. Saturn squared its birth position exactly on 2 March 2026, a test of what you built at the 2018 return. The progressed Sun trines your natal Saturn within 0.41°, and transiting Saturn sextiles your Midheaven. The trine and the sextile are supportive angles, so this year favors structures that are meant to last. Transiting Jupiter squares your Ascendant within 0.55°, and Uranus trines your birth Moon, which loosens how you handle feeling in public. Several clocks point at Jupiter and Saturn together.

The BaZi luck pillar Xin Hai, running until 18 April 2031, brings Yin Metal over a Water branch, the two elements your birth chart lacks. For a Wu Earth Day Master, Yin Metal is the Hurting Officer: sharp output, and friction with the rules. The output your birth chart does not produce on its own is supplied by this decade. Numerology gives 2026 as a Personal Year 9, a year of completion.

The planet running this sixteen-year period sits in the 12th house in both zodiacs, next to the planet that rules your life. Most of what this period grows in you will be spent, given away or done out of sight, and neither chart contains anything that moves it into public view by default. The Mercury sub-period is one of only two stretches in the whole Jupiter period whose ruler stands in the house of career. The other is Rahu's sub-period, and it does not begin until 25 September 2034.

What comes next

Lens: Personal years, profections, Vedic sub-periods, progressed Moon, slow-planet cycles. Pertains to: the turns of the next three years and what each is good for.

On 1 January 2027 you enter a Personal Year 1 in numerology, a year of beginnings. It follows directly on the year of completion you are in now.

On 14 March 2027 the profected year moves to the 4th house, Western Leo, with the Sun as its lord. The topic changes from talk and learning to home, roots and the ground you stand on. Your Sun is in the 11th house and in Pisces in both zodiacs, the sign of friends and of what you hope for. A Sun-ruled year therefore links home to the people you have chosen. In the Vedic chart Ketu, the node of detachment, sits in sidereal Leo in the 4th bhava, so the same year also asks what at home you no longer need.

On 25 January 2028 the Vedic clock moves to the Ketu sub-period. On 25 February 2028 the progressed Moon enters Western Leo. The profected year is in Leo until 14 March 2028, and Ketu sits in Leo in the Vedic chart.

The Ketu sub-period runs only to 31 December 2028. It suits finishing, releasing commitments and simplifying. 2028 is also a Personal Year 11 in numerology, a year of sharper intuition. The progressed Moon in Leo, through September 2030, shifts your emotional needs toward being seen and doing something of your own.

On 31 December 2028 the Venus sub-period begins and runs to 1 September 2031. This is the first time in your adult life that the chart ruler governs a Vedic period. Venus brings what you love and what you value to the front, though it still works from the 12th house. On 7 May 2029 the first pass of the Neptune square arrives, and it repeats until 9 March 2030. That cycle often blurs the line between what you want and what you imagine, and it is good for art and study that need no deadline.

Where your effort pays most

Lens: Mercury sub-period, progressed Moon and Saturn, Jupiter period and Shravana. Pertains to: concrete moves the current timing supports.

Put one piece of work under your own name before 14 March 2027. Mercury is at the top of both charts until 25 January 2028, the profected year favors writing, speaking and teaching until your birthday, and Xin Hai supplies the Metal your birth chart lacks. Choose one thing, such as an article, a talk, a short course or a public portfolio, and give it a date this month. A window like this does not come back until September 2034.

Write down what your work costs and what your home needs, and check the two together every week through February 2028. The progressed Moon is in your 2nd house of worth and opposes Mars, so home and ambition are competing for the same resources. The progressed Sun's trine to Saturn favors structures you set now and keep. A fixed weekly hour with that page turns the friction into something you can decide on.

Name what you have studied privately since February 2021, and take it to a teacher, or take on one student, before 25 January 2028. Jupiter rules teachers, the Gajakesari yoga links Jupiter to your Moon, and Shravana is the nakshatra of listening and passing knowledge on. Your Life Path 7 makes study your natural route. Jupiter sits in the 12th, so the study already exists. This move puts it in front of one other person before Ketu's sub-period starts to strip things down.
